JOB SUMMARY:
The DPO is responsible for implementing and promoting compliance with Avanade Policy 90 and European regulations with respect to compliance processing, protection and retention of personal data by partnering with regional staff and the global legal team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
- Implement data privacy compliance steps, as required by Avanade's Policy 90 and data privacy guidelines/regulations and as instructed by the Chief Privacy Officer on specific projects in the country/region.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with local regulations and Avanade Policy 90. Implement corrective action as needed.
- In conjunction with regional legal teams, monitor updates to regional/national changes in Data Privacy requirements and recommend updates to Avanade policies and procedures as needed.
- Obtain and maintain required registration, notification and/or documentation to demonstrate compliance with regional/national requirements.
- Respond to requests for the exercise of rights given to employees or third parties by Avanade Policy 90 (e.g., access to data, correction, objection to direct marketing) in compliance with guidelines.
- Confer with CPO on all significant data privacy issues.
- Provide a quarterly report to the CPO on issues encountered, advice given and any outcome of complaints.
- Work with the Ethics and Compliance, IT, HR, Finance and other internal departments to ensure a cohesive administration of data privacy policy and procedures.
- Design and deliver data protection training to employees to promote awareness, understanding and ownership for assigned area.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS (TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL):
- Skilled in the practice of law as part of an in-house legal team
- Proven ability to efficiently manage and contribute to significant numbers of projects simultaneously.
- Very proficient in practice with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Excellent teamwork skills across functions and corporate affiliates.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND (EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS, YEARS OF EXPERIENCE)
- Law degree with at least seven or more years experience in the practice of law
- At least three years experience in advising on global Data Privacy programs
- Significant prior work experience should include in-house legal department environment
