Description

Avanade is looking for a Microsoft Infrastructure Consultant that possesses professional consulting attributes, exceptional technical skills, excellent communication skills, strong client focus, and commitment to detail. As a Microsoft Infrastructure Consultant, you will be responsible for assistance with opportunity development, design, and delivery on a variety of initiatives such as Microsoft Online Services, Datacenter Optimization and Virtualization, Desktop and Workspace Infrastructure, Server Infrastructure, and Messaging/Collaboration. You will also apply functional knowledge and technical expertise to the design of systems to support customer needs, and you will contribute to Avanade’s vast repository of intellectual property.

Responsibilities include:

Designing, implementing and executing server infrastructure, migration strategies, and integration/coexistence for a wide range of medium to enterprise-level initiatives;

Delivering technical solutions as per specified plans, deliverables, costs and timelines;

Gathering business requirements and translating them into IT solutions;

Managing multiple responsibilities and assignments while maintaining a high level of quality.

Working in team environments that span functional and geographic boundaries;

Documenting technical issues, solutions and support information;

Assisting with pre-sales support and clearly articulating technical issues, solutions and activities to colleagues and customers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working in a medium to large IT environment as a subject matter expert in Microsoft infrastructure solutions;

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, implementation and support of Microsoft Infrastructure solutions;

Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly articulate technical issues and activities to technical and non-technical staff;

Exceptional writing skills, including documenting configuration and support information;

Ability to work in a team environment;

Strong customer service focus and attention to detail;

Ability to travel;

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related field

Industry recognized certifications and memberships (MCSE, MSTS, MSITP, etc.).

The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with architecture, implementation and support expertise with at least three of the following technologies, strategies and activities:

Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 Solution Design, Architecture, and Deployment;

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Office 2010 desktop engineering & deployment;

Active Directory Services: AD CS, AD DS, AD FS, AD LDS, AD RMS;

Microsoft Messaging and Unified Communication technologies: Exchange 2007/2010, Office Communications Server (OCS) / Lync Server;

System Center Products (System Center Configuration Manager; System Centre Service Manager; System Centre Operations Manager);

Microsoft Collaboration technologies: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS);

Microsoft Cloud Services: BPOS/Office 365;

Microsoft Desktop Transformations;

Microsoft Application Infrastructure design and implementation (BizTalk Server, SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, CRM);

Virtualization technologies (Server and Application).

Additional knowledge and experience with one or more of the following technologies is advantageous:

Microsoft Forefront Solutions including Identity Management technologies: ILM/FIM;

Microsoft database technologies: SQL Server;

Knowledge of non-Microsoft technologies: VMware, Citrix;

Knowledge of non-Microsoft Enterprise Messaging and Collaboration technologies: Lotus Notes; GroupWise; etc.;

Telecommunications technologies: Voice; VOIP; PBX;

Microsoft Security technologies and strategies:

Backup, Redundancy and Disaster Recovery technologies and strategies;
