Description
The Business Intelligence Solution Architect is responsible for the sales, development, and delivery of consulting solutions to support the Avanade Information Management Services (AIMS) capability in the northwestern United States. Under the direction of the AIMS West Organizational Unit Lead, the Solution Architect will lead the creation of high-value business intelligence solutions for Avanade's clients, as well as direct the alignment of these solutions with Avanade's proven implementation methodology and Microsoft technology vision. This position also provides regional leadership in the areas of financial management, advancement, recruitment, and retention. This position will work collaboratively across all Avanade organizations in providing continuous value to our clientele.
This position will represent Avanade's approach to information management solutions and as such must demonstrate proficiency at the architecture level. This position will require an understanding of information architecture as it relates to overall business objectives, as well as the high-level technical architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive Microsoft technology experience with data warehousing, reporting and analytics architectures, portals, as well as scorecards and dashboards.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated leadership in the field of business intelligence, reporting, and business process analysis.
The preferred candidate will also have a commitment to working across enterprises (both within Avanade and our clients), be familiar with the market challenges in multiple verticals, have an understanding of performance strategies, available market and demographic research, and experience with emerging technologies in business intelligence.
Qualifications
Required Technical Skills
· General architecture
o Designing large-scale high-performance systems
o Being able to design systems from business requirements
o Being able to interpret business requirements into functional and then technical requirements
o Understanding of designing workflow/process-based systems
· SQL Server database engine, specifically:
o database schema design
o data warehouse design (Kimball, Inmon, etc)
· SQL Server Integration Services
· SQL Server Analysis Services
· SQL Server Reporting Services
· PerformancePoint Server 2007
o Focus on the monitoring (dashboards) angle; analytics and planning are dying off as products
· (optional) SharePoint Server 2007
o Creating and configuring site collections
o Deploying pages
o Configuring web parts
· (optional) SharePoint Server 2010 and PerformancePoint Services
· (optional) Master data management, either using Stratature or SQL Server 2008 Master Data Services
Required Non-Technical Skills
· Ability to work closely with diverse business constituencies to translate business requirements into technical architectures
· Ability to provide thought leadership and business strategy acumen around performance management and the information lifecycle
· Ability to lead customers through a value-based decision making cycle
· Demonstrated ability to present to executive teams with focus
5+ years demonstrated advance proficiency development methodologies
3+ years technical lead or management experience
Demonstrated ability to lead consultants in various project work streams
Demonstrated project experience with regard to estimates, planning and deliverables
Proven ability to understand a customer's needs
Developed technical requirements based on business imperatives
Ability to travel 80% of the time to the customer location
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field
Must be currently authorized to work in the US
